How the medicine works

Blonanserin is an antipsychotic drug used to treat mental disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It works by altering the balance of certain chemicals in the brain, specifically by acting as an antagonist at dopamine D2, D3, and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. Blonanserin has a low affinity for 5-HT2C receptors and other neurotransmitter receptors, which reduces dopaminergic and serotonergic neurotransmission. By blocking these receptors, Blonanserin helps to reduce the symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Blonanserin has a low propensity to cause weight gain, metabolic abnormalities, and prolactin elevation. However, as with any medication, there may be side effects, and it is important to consult a healthcare provider before taking Blonanserin to ensure that it is safe and appropriate for the patient's specific needs
